Building a platform from the Community

READ Anika’s platform here!

I believe that 'showing up and doing the dishes' is the best way to connect directly with our community to learn what’s important to you. So I built this platform from the conversations I had at doors, meeting with experts, orgs and union reps, at community events, and generally being out and about over that past 3 months!

Directly connecting with the community has been the foundation of my work and volunteer experience. It's the best way to build trust and understanding, especially when traditional engagement methods unfortunately leave some out of municipal policy conversations.

I believe it’s important to reach out and talk to the community before making decisions, and I built my campaign off of that principle.*

If there are local issues or policy challenges that I missed that are important to you - please reach out!

*While I'm always open to conversations and dialogue, I'm guided by firmly held principles of sustaining an inclusive and just community. I’ve spent years working with and alongside newcomers, the African Nova Scotian, the Mikmaq, the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and multiple accessibility communities. I will not tolerate abuse or discrimination of marginalized groups.
